V. Goodman Summer Baseball

The Viola Goodman Instructional Baseball League was established in 2019 with the assistance of the Boston Area Church League (BACL) and the Red Sox Foundation to introduce inner city youth, Boys and Girls between the ages of 5-12 years old, to learn about Americas favorite past time.
The naming of the league came about after a few family members of the BMGS, mother and Grandmother who had been recognized by the Boston Red Sox in the past as one of their oldest fans, past away in 2018 at the age of 105 yrs old, 2 weeks shy of her 106th birthday.
To keep her memory alive, Mr Frank Jordan, special advisor of the Boston Red Sox and a
co-founder of the BACL wanted to create this program and have the BMGS as the Community sponsor.
In its first season of the Viola Goodman Baseball league, over 100 kids in the Springfield area participated and at the end of the season, was invited to Fenway Park to attend a Boston Red Sox game.
